Smearballs Artist Statement 2010

Through the movement of segregated chromatic digital information, Smearballs will weave an unconventional rhythmic tapestry of visual illusions designed to stimulate unexpected interpretations of synthesized organic patterns within a complex system of infinite reproductive spacial time-sensitive geometry. Smearballs seeks to explore and emphasize the present preconceived cultural divide that occurs between socio-digital communicative responses when met with the harsh consequences of psychologically concentrated, digitally altered and commonly replicated false physical reality within the artificial ecosystems of online social networking. A myriad of intricate gestural forms resembling organic reflections of spiritual tradition will not only engage the viewer's perception of contemporary regurgitated media, but will also liberate one's self from the boundaries of mental complacency brought on by the inherent human desire for a suspended artificial identity to fill the void of human interaction in a manufactured antisocial realm of narcissistic cyber reality. Furthermore, Smearballs intends to expose the duality of the traditional metaphorical symmetry found within the shadows of the absurdity of contemporary human interaction through a mythological vocabulary of ancestral archetypes juxtaposed with modern iconography.

Videodrome / vizzbattle 2009

Smearballs is participating in a live video battle on Saturday April 4th at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art. We plan on winning the battle by means of slaying the competition.Smearballs Artist statement:

___Utilizing time-based visual media, Smearballs plans to explore the inner relationship between humanity's spiritual ancestry and the collective intellectual dexterity that is responsible for the undeniable duality that exists within the intersections of digital and physical culture in a world where we consciously create the unconscious through the contextualization and appropriation of time-based visual media. This relationship will be realized through a series of visual interpretations designed to stimulate the viewer's perception of reality in order to embrace the inevitability of cultural intermingling by hybridizing archetypal subject matter . Employing traditional and contemporary processes, Smearballs will test the limits of visual and lingual structures in order to demystify established cultural constructs and the significant components of the inherent beauty that shapes our environment. Furthermore Smearballs will expose apparent incongruities within the human experience through a display of interpersonal interactions, manipulating the boundaries of subjective perception. Or maybe I'll put a goddamn party hat on an asshole i saw on tv and hit him in the face with a green screened two by four.
