The Black Eyed Peas' "Don't Stop The Party" Video Looks Like It Was Fan-Made

The Black Eyed Peas are coming off what I'd argue is their best singles ever, the stirring "Just Can't Get Enough" (which, as we know, saved their careers in this era of The Beginning). So now they've opted for "Don't Stop The Party" as the follow-up.

Unfortunately, as the title unintentionally implies, this particular party feels like the same one the Peas started with "Boom Boom Pow" then carried on in hits like "I Gotta Feeling" and "Imma Be." No, it doesn't sound exactly like those songs — just maybe a blend of all of them. In other words, if you consider stale trance riffs from 1999 and will.i.am and Fergie's heavily-Auto-Tuned robot hooker vocals to be your idea of a tickle up the skirt, then have at it.

For me, the icing on this flattened cake is the video, which is basically compiled of concert and backstage footage of the band. Lame.



Maybe it's time for Will to hang it up for a couple years, until he can come up with a sound that isn't completely played out?

It's Black Eyed Peas' "Just Can't Get Enough" Video

I seem to go in waves with the Black Eyed Peas. Sometimes, I want to strap them all to the front of an 18-wheeler and steer it off the nearest cliff. Other times, I find myself totally on board with their cheesy jams. And "Just Can't Get Enough" is one of those latter times.

The Peas shot the music video for their second single off The Beginning in Japan a week before last Friday's earthquake and tsunami devastated the northeast coast of the island nation, and they've therefore dedicated the clip to "all the people of Japan."

The Rich Lee-directed video for the Black Eyed Peas' by-the-numbers "The Time (The Dirty Bit)" has arrived. (Can we finally end the trend of lazy artists interpolating '80s songs after this? Please?) And I guess if you haven't paid any attention to Pet Shop Boys' Pandemonium tour...

...or any of the artwork used for their 2009 album Yes...

...then, hey—pretty innovative!

The Black Eyed Peas Get Really Lazy With Brand New Single "The Time (The Dirty Bit)"

Will.i.am posted the brand new Black Eyed Peas single "The Time (The Dirty Bit)"—the first issued off upcoming album The Beginning—today on his Dipdive blog. Above you see the 8 bit watch-featuring cover art.

Says Will, "We secretly shot our first video in L.A. last week before we left on our South American tour...The Beginning is our departure to the new...always pushing new sounds and technology..."

Interesting that he says "new," since "The Time" uses the utterly tired technique of not only building its chorus around the melody of an '80s pop hit—in this case, Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes' Dirty Dancing duet "(I've Had) The Time Of My Life"—it actually just uses that song's entire chorus as its own.



LAZY. I would have been more down with this potential jam had they done something way more original. I do like the tick-tock synth intro. But relying on a known song once again for a hook is tacky. (They already copped from Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" for "Meet Me Halfway," after all.)

Let's hope that, like The E.N.D. post-"Boom Boom Pow," The Beginning has better singles lying in wait. David Guetta, DJ Ammo and Will served as producers on the LP, which contains 12 tracks and is scheduled for a November 30 release.

It Would Seem This Is Only 'The Beginning' For The Black Eyed Peas

You may recall I taunted you all on April 1st with news of the Black Eyed Peas' breakup. Alas, that was not true. April Fool's Day. Ha....ha.

No, chyldryn—Fergie and Co. will follow up their 2009 album The E.N.D. with The Beginning, which will.i.am says in this interview with Nicki Minaj (from the set of their video shoot for single "Check It Out") contains 12 tracks, two of which were produced by David Guetta and four having been swizzed by Ammo of Kelis "4th Of July (Fireworks)" and Ke$ha "Your Love Is My Drug" fame.



The Beginning is set for a November 30 release. Hoo-razzy.
