Consider this a palate cleanser after Eva Mendes Gucci victim moment last week. Here she is looking beautiful and stylish wearing an Oscar de la Renta dress (Fall 2011 collection) while attending the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences' tribute to Sophia Loren last night in Beverly Hills. I love everything about the dress- the unique color and classic chic. And it looks perfect with Eva Mendes' coloring.
The center of attention was, of course, Sophia Loren. I love her. Always have, always will. Her vitality is infectious, even if her makeup has been raising eyebrows for years now. Somehow she pulls it off. Besides, she's Sophia Loren. She can abuse eye and lip liners as much as she likes.
Another beauty icon in attendance was Tippi Hedren. A couple of weeks ago as my mother and I were discussing Melanie Griffith and her unfortunate face, my mom made the very true observation that poor Melanie looks older and much more ragged than her own mother. Of course, Tippi Hedren has never looked anything but polished and lady-like. She also never married Don Johnson, so that might also explain a thing or two.
