Those of you who managed to watch the amazing short series 'The Promise' which finished last week on Channel 4 will know that this talented American actor, played the character of Palestinian former soldier, Mohamed. Although not in the programme as much as other characters, Haaz's portrayal of a silenced man who survives by keeping to his social boundaries was just as effective.
Some may recognize Haaz from 2007 Oscar-nominated film 'The Visitor' playing an illegal immigrant from Syria who gets deported. Again Haaz brought a warmth and gentleness to the role, showing that sometimes those we oppose based on different cultures/societies are only this, distant figures created by ourselves when in fact these people share the same emotions as you - the 'enemy' does not exist.
