After watching the movie Teeth last night, I decided to do a bit of homework on where this "physiological horror myth" or "swallowed buck toothed twin" legend originated. Turns out that this can be linked back to an ancient Sumatran text as well as several British Guianian allegories. It mostly revolves around the male's lack of knowledge of the vagina, fear of it and also the fear of castration. Ostensibly, the modern incarnation of this less than pleasant parable points directly at your mother.
