This is a write up we made for Tyler Grace's upcoming photo exhibition called Panorama Drama opening this Saturday Feb. 6, 3-5 pm at the Queen Mother here in Toronto.
Tyler Grace Artist Statement
Panorama Drama is a visual exploration of the peripheral senses.
Tyler Grace places the subject in the back seat while the viewer peers through the rear view mirror completely distracted by the world outside of the car.
Tyler utilizes photostitching as an avenue to discover the relationship between a split second and the atmosphere in which the split second was extrated from without ruining the moment.
In fact Grace enhances a moment in time, frozen within the anticipation of the potential dramatization which can only occur in that which cannot be anticipated.
The real skill in Grace's work is the retention of atmospheric elements within a non linear impractical representation of manufactured societal expectations designed only to stimulate the status quo.
Tyler has designed this exhibition to distract the viewer from their understanding of photography itself.
A subject becomes the background and the viewer becomes the subject.
